The Tacoma-Pierce County Built Green® Program includes a land development, new single and multi-family home construction, and remodeling components. The Tacoma-Pierce County Built Green® Program is a certification program that recognizes industry members who build above and beyond regulatory code. Because the program is menu-driven, Built Green® homes and remodels will be unique. Developers, builders and remodelers will be able to complete a checklist with over 200 Built Green® Action Items to choose from. Depending on the type of project and specific items included, construction projects will be awarded up to a 5-star rating.

The program promotes energy efficiency, good indoor air quality, site ecosysem protection, water conservation, and "green" building materials.
