Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
http://www.aboutsfi.org
The SFI program is a comprehensive sustainable forestry certification system that encompasses more than 143 million certified acres across North America and includes 216 program participants, making it one of the largest forest certification programs in the world. The SFI program offers a labeling system for program participants to use to indicate that their products are independently, third-party certified and come from a well-managed forest.
SFI offers a strong standard that promotes sustainable forest management. In North America, SFI offers a steady supply and significantly more products from certified sources than other certification systems. There are currently 408 locations that are chain-of-custody certified to the SFI standard. The attached paper, titled "Green buildings and SFI Certified Wood", will provide additional information that will be useful in your presentation to the builders.
